I called ahead and booked a full health check and nail clipping for my rabbit. The clinic was aware I had a rabbit and told me I had to book the appointment with a vet which was £70 in addition to the nail clipping fee. At the appointment, the vet, Andra Pop, openly admitted she was not an exotic vet nor did she have experience with rabbits and couldn't even perform a basic dental check. Worse still, she insisted on me holding my rabbit down on her back to clip her nails to which I had to tell her was wrong. Putting a rabbit on its back triggers tonic immobility ("trancing"). This is a dangerous, fear-induced predator response that causes severe psychological distress and risks a fractured spine if the rabbit panics. My rabbit panicked, and a nurse had to step in, correct the vet, and move my rabbit to the floor to handle her safely. While the Practice Director ultimately wiped the heath check up fee after a formal complaint, I am leaving this review to warn other pet (especially rabbit) owners. The handling here was completely unsafe and the reception team was very unprofessional.

We have recently moved to the area and transferred to Stokewood from another CVS Practice. Everyone was really helpful from the moment I contacted them, even completing the transferred process. Lovely clean and calm practice. First appointment was for a check up.and annual jabs. Vet was extremely caring and friendly with our dog., checking him over and giving advice as he's becoming a senior dog. Very happy with this practice

I have my 2 golden retrievers on the VIP membership Stokewood Veterinary Centre. Can easily get an appointment for my pups whenever I need with no extra charge. Lovely people. They really care for the dogs and are very helpful UPDATED REVIEW (OCTOBER 2024) They’ve changed their VIP plan and now consultations are not included anymore so you have to pay nearly £60 for a consultation even if you pay a monthly plan (currently one of the highest priced in town £34 for my dog - which used to include VIP consultation with no extra charge). Medicines cost 4x more than the price online and it has became really overpriced. The vets are not the same as the ones from a couple of years ago. Everything is changed now. I work with dogs and have recommended the practice to a few customers back in 2022 and at least 80% of the people I recommended came back to me to say how unhappy they were with their services and left to another veterinarian practice. The online booking system is still pretty easy to use just bear in mind that any consultation will turn out very expensive. A few months ago my dog (under 2 years old) seemed to be a bit sore on her rear back, I felt her unbalanced when cleaning up her paws so took her to see the vets for a check up and felt really pressured by the vet to book an x-ray for the next day - and maybe surgery for following week if necessary - even tho the dog wasn’t even limping. Been quoted nearly £1000 for x-ray and I’m so glad I heard my partner who advised me to wait cause it looked like a leg strain. We’ve got some pain killers for her and a week later the dog was 100% fine. Today, months later, she is doing absolutely well so glad I didn’t get to spend all of that money she probably pulled her leg and needed some medicine and rest.

Highly recommend. Easy to make appointments on their website. Clear communication and updates regularly given. Care and attention given to both animals and people.

Dr Iulia and Gemma were both amazing. Very reassuring and took me through each part of what they were doing in detail. Gemma provided lots of good tips and tricks to help my cat get used to his inhaler!

When I first joined Stockwood Vets, I was a first-time dog owner and genuinely appreciated how welcoming and friendly the team were. They were gentle with my dog, Runa, and took the time to explain things, which initially gave me a lot of reassurance. On that basis, I joined the Pet Benefits membership for peace of mind. However, after a recent visit, I left feeling quite disappointed not with the care itself, but with the lack of transparency around costs. While the team are very efficient at booking appointments over the phone (which is great), I was not informed in advance that there would be an additional consultation fee on top of the treatment cost. As a first-time dog owner and a paying member, this was unexpected and stressful, especially as I wasn’t prepared for the extra charge. I was happy to pay for the injection my dog needed that was clear and understood but the consultation fee felt like a hidden cost that should have been clearly explained at the point of booking. This lack of upfront information left me having to spend money I genuinely hadn’t budgeted for. In hindsight, I’m now questioning the value of the membership. I feel it would be far more transparent and customer-friendly if the membership included a set number of consultations per year, with additional visits charged only if that allowance is exceeded. The staff themselves remain polite and professional, and my concern is not about their care for animals, but about clear communication and cost transparency, which is especially important for new pet owners. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as clearer pricing upfront would make a big difference to the overall experience.

Once again I've had the most special care from everyone at this practice. My pet has complicated issues but everyone is so determined to do the right thing for her. I'm never made to feel a nuisance even though I have to attend very regularly. Iulia is an amazing vet who is determined to help my dog get the best out of her life. I can't thank her enough. There isn't one member of staff that doesn't deserve praise. Thank you to you all.

Really impressed with the level of care. From booking the appointment through to the visit itself, everything felt calm, organised, and clearly communicated, which made the experience much less stressful. It’s obvious the practice is very well run and that the team genuinely care about both pets and owners.

A lovely practice, they always make me and my dog feel so welcome.
